Maximize Productivity and Lose the Weight

I was talking to this woman and we were talking about losing weight. She was talking about this big goal she had and how hard it was to stay on track. It seemed overwhelming to her, so she would get started and then stop. She felt defeated and put her goal off. Boy, do I know that one- been there, done that, have the badge!!!
I started thinking about this and how it so relates to getting things done. For us, the business owner, there are many goals we set out to accomplish. Sometimes, they occur for us as overwhelming- we just don’t k now where to start. It may even occur for us like a burden, like a weight on our shoulders. If you are like me, and most people, when this occurs for you- you work in starts and stops, or just give up.
What can you do to get productive? First, it is always easier to accomplish something if you break it down into bite sized pieces, so to speak. Look at what is the ultimate goal. Then ask yourself what are the stepping stones- in other words, what will you need to accomplish to reach the ultimate goal. Sometimes, it helps to write this out. Put it away and come back to it, review it ans ask yourself if there are any other stepping stones you need to accomplish and write any additional outcomes you discover down.
Now you have the goal and the intermediate steps which, if accomplished, will fulfill your goal.
The only thing that ever produces real results is action, of course, so this is the next natural step. What are the actions you need to take for each outcome (I suggest doing them one at a time for planning purposes). And create a deadline of when you will take them which includes scheduling them in your calendar. (I always tell people, if it is not in writing, for me, it does not exist! I live by my calendar, and not my memory!)
The last step is to look to see who can support you in accomplishing this outcome and what you need to request of them. When you ask people for support, you want to see how you can empower them and what they need for support. And by the way- most people will say yes, as people LOVE to contribute.
